Award-Winning Company Joins Tees Valley Careers Initiative As It Hits 1,000 Business Target

A Hartlepool-based logistics company has become the 1,000^th business to support the TeesValleyCareers.com initiative, helping to raise ambitions and improve the career prospects of local young people.

Hogg Global Logistics was named Best New Business at the recent Tees Businesswomen Awards and the firm has now been praised for making the pledge to offer invaluable careers support to local students by signing up to TeesValleyCareers.com.

The international freight-forwarding firm will be helping secondary school and college students make key decisions about their future career pathways and build their confidence and knowledge of the labour market.

Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen established the £3million TeesValleyCareers.com initiative in 2018 with a target of engaging up 1,000 Tees Valley businesses to support the region’s 100,000 11-18-year-olds, giving them high-quality careers guidance along with substantial contact with a wide range of local businesses across all sectors.

Studies show that just four engagements with the world of work significantly reduces a pupil’s chance of being unemployed and that, on average, they earn 22% more than those who have not engaged.

The target was smashed during National Careers Week, which runs to 6 March, and provides a focus for careers guidance activity ahead of the Tees Valley’s virtual Careers Expo, taking place on 18 March.
