Five ways to show that you are here for Tees Valley tourism

Inspiration | Published on: 27th May 2021

The past year has been a challenging one for the tourism industry, so our tourism businesses need your support now more than ever. To mark English Tourism Week 2021, we have come up with five ways that you can support tourism businesses in the region, now they can finally reopen their doors.

Pay them a visit

There’s no better way to support Tees Valley’s tourism businesses than by paying them a visit.

Tour around your favourite Tees Valley attractions, discover some new favourites, or visit all the fabulous venues you can find in the region – it will really mean a lot.

If you’re looking for inspiration, how about learning all about the region’s railway heritage at Head of Steam Railway Museum in Darlington or becoming immersed in maritime history at National Museum of the Royal Navy, Hartlepool? Take in the stunning surroundings of Middlesbrough Town Hall, watch world-class musicals at Hartlepool Town Hall, or settle into the region’s only independent cinema at ARC.

Stay the night in the Tees Valley with accommodation options everyone will love, whether that’s luxury country houses amongst stunning grounds, quirky glamping getaways, or cosy B&Bs by the seaside.

Get supportive on social media

Supporting tourism businesses can be as easy as hitting “like”, so get those thumbs working and shower your favourite spots with love on social media.

Find all your favourite places on social and give them a follow so you can get all the latest updates. Tag a friend to get the word out or share their posts to show everyone how amazing they are!

If you don’t want to miss a thing, you don’t have to. Turn on notifications for their social posts to get the latest news straight to your phone.

Book in advance

Whether you’ve already filled your diary, or don’t fancy venturing out just yet, book your visit in advance and let businesses know you’re planning to visit them soon.

Check out jam-packed programmes for theatres and venues across the region. Feel the buzz of live music, discover fab tribute acts, and watch fun pantomimes take to the stage. How about booking advance tickets for live gigs at The Georgian Theatre, tribute acts at Middlesbrough Theatre, and side-splitting comedy shows at ARC?

Share the fun

Have you had an amazing time in a Tees Valley tourism attraction, or enjoyed a stay in some amazing accommodation? Don’t keep it to yourself!

Share all the fun you’ve had with friends and family, so they can discover top Tees Valley spots and see what all the fuss is about for themselves. Get posting in the group chat, write positive reviews on Google and TripAdvisor and give them a shout out on your own social pages!

Give a gift

If there’s a special occasion on your radar, skip the standard presents and give the gift of Tees Valley instead.

Snap up some stunning souvenirs from the gift shop at Preston Park Museum, find handmade gifts inspired by local landmarks at MIMA, or pick up some fabulous merchandise from Darlington Hippodrome.

If you’re not quite sure what to buy, get a gift voucher which can be enjoyed later. Rockliffe Hall and Wynyard Hall have a range of luxurious spa and accommodation experiences, whilst Tees Barrage offers adrenaline-fueled experiences for the adventure seekers in your life.

Don’t forget to tag us and use #EnjoyTeesValley when sharing the love on social media during English Tourism Week.
