Want to get around without a car? No problem. Our towns across Tees Valley are all well served by quick and convenient public transport that can take the whole family where you need to go.
With frequent trains serving stations in Darlington, Middlesbrough, Redcar, Saltburn, Stockton-on-tees, Thornaby, Billingham, Hartlepool, Seaton Carew, Eaglescliffe, Yarm, Nunthorpe and more, it couldn’t be easier to travel around Tees Valley and beyond by rail. The region is also criss-crossed by a wide variety of handy bus services. Even better, until 31st March 2023 you can get around for less by making the most of a £2 single fare cap on bus journeys when you travel with Arriva, Stagecoach and Go North East. At the museum
We are lucky to have a whole bunch of amazing museums in the region, offering something for the whole family to enjoy. Travel by bus direct to the doorsteps of brilliant attractions like the Dorman Museum, Preston Park, the National Museum of the Royal Navy, or Kirkleatham Museum.
Feeling more artsy? Both MIMA and Hartlepool Art Gallery are easily accessible by bus, and both are also located only a few minutes’ walk from the nearest train station.
Beside the seaside
Make the most of our amazing coastline and discover the charm of Redcar beach and promenade, explore the magnificent Saltburn beach and pier, or why not spend the day on the sands of Seaton Carew beach?
All of the best beaches and seaside resorts have convenient bus connections, so you won’t have to worry about finding a parking space.
It’s showtime
Catching a show at one of Tees Valley’s marvellous live venues? Whether you’re visiting the Globe or ARC in Stockton, the Darlington Hippodrome or Theatre Hullabaloo next door, the Town Hall Theatre in Hartlepool, or maybe heading to a concert at the Princess Alexandra Auditorium in Yarm, you can leave the car at home and take public transport to and from the show.
Shop till you drop
Whether you want to wander around Darlington market or explore the shops on Stockton High Street or in Wellington Square, or if instead you’d prefer to visit the popular big outlets of Teesside Park or Cleveland Retail Park, the buses and trains have you covered.

Get out into nature
Even if you fancy escaping from the bustle of town and taking a stroll amongst some greenery, why not take the bus? There are handy bus stops at Guisborough Forest and Walkway, Wynyard Woodland Walk, RSPB Saltholme, Saltburn Valley Gardens, and many more of the most peaceful spots across the region.
