As we enter another national lockdown, we would like to reflect on the kindness and community spirit shown by some brilliant businesses during the Coronavirus crisis.
Whether it was dishing up food parcels, delivering essentials or giving key workers something to keep them going, here are some Tees Valley businesses who provided positivity during the pandemic.
Tees Active
Tees Active donated over £1000 worth of confectionary from their cafes and vending machines to North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Fountain Trust and James Cook University Hospital. Hundreds of snacks and refreshments were shared out and delivered for frontline staff to enjoy.
Rockliffe Hall kindly gifted over 500 of their shower gels, which usually go in guests’ rooms, to Darlington Memorial hospital.
The hotel swiftly donated two large boxes of luxury toiletries, after a message went out asking for products for many patients who couldn’t access them, due to the ban on hospital visitors.
Steel River Drinks are swapping gins for gels to keep Tees Valley stocked up with hand sanitiser whilst supporting local causes.
The regions first gin scented hand sanitiser, Stainsby Gel is available to purchase online here, £2 from each bottle will support local causes.
Bikestop
Bikestop Darlington have supported NHS staff and key care workers throughout the pandemic with their successful free bike loan service.
Key workers can now book a free bronze repair service for their own bicycle free of charge thanks to Bikestop.
The Mowden & Maggies Place in Darlington worked together to support their local community during this difficult time. Both businesses teamed up to provide thousands of free home cooked meals for the elderly and vulnerable to enjoy.
The Clucking Pig Company kindly dropped off their gourmet scotch eggs for frontline workers to enjoy at James Cook University hospital – Princess Eugenie even expressed her thanks to them on social media!
The team at Fork in the Road, Middlesbrough have volunteered their time to whip up hundreds of food parcels. Their delicious dishes have been delivered to vulnerable individuals and their families throughout the pandemic.
Hampton by Hilton in Stockton remained open to provide accommodation and complimentary breakfasts to key workers, the team worked hard to provide a safe and friendly environment during difficult times.
Tees Valley turns blue
