This section of the Teesdale Way connects the village of Gainford to the outskirts of the town of Darlington, located in Durham’s ceremonial county. Along the way, you’ll find pleasant villages with inviting pubs and cafes. The walking is relatively easy, and you’ll come across narrow river terraces with limestone bluffs shaped by glacial drift. You’ll also spot small boulders and rocks, and trees like alder, oak, ash and willow growing along the banks of the meandering river.
